Barcelona map

A map of barcelona. Barcelona map (Catalonia Spain) to print. Barcelona map (Catalonia Spain) to download. Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia. Barcelona is located in the northeast of Spain, very close to France and the Pyrenees (see barcelona map). The city has a population of 1,700,000 inhabitants. It is the most populated city in Spain behind Madrid. The metropolitan region of Barcelona is made up of 36 municipalities with a total population of more than 5 million inhabitants.

Barcelona is different as it is part of Spain, and yet unique (see barcelona map). Home to a native Catalan population, Barcelona is the capital of this autonomous region that dreams of complete independence. Catalan has its own official language making stepping into Barcelona like stepping into another world with the signs that point the way and the people on the streets speaking a different language.

Barcelona has primarily a Mediterranean climate (see barcelona map). This is characterized by mild, humid winters and warm, dry summers. Atlantic west winds often arrive in Barcelona with low humidity, producing no rain. The proximity of the Atlantic, its latitude, and the relief, are the reasons why the summers are not as dry as in most other Mediterranean Basin locations. Barcelona average annual temperature is 20 degrees C (68 degrees F) during the day; 11 degrees C (52 degrees F) at night.

Being one of the most populous cities of Spain, Barcelona lies to the northeast of the Mediterranean coast (as its mentioned in barcelona map). Because of this closeness to the Mediterranean, the beaches in Barcelona are the best place to rest & relax. Nova Icària, Bogatell, Mar Bella and Nova Mar Bella are some of the frequently visited tourist beaches. Barcelona port is one of the busiest on the Mediterranean Sea that caters to its economy.

Barcelona contains a number of buildings of historic importance. For example, in 1450, the University of Barcelona was founded. The famous opera house, Gran Teatre del Liceu is also present in Barcelona (see barcelona map). Other important buildings include the museums of Picasso and Miro, Maritime Museum, Museum of Catalonian Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Also, present in Barcelona is the famously beautiful street, La Rambla and the heart of Barcelona, the Catalonia Plaza.
